Upright vs. Reversed Tarot Cards: Is a Reversed Card Bad?
A reversed card isn't an omen of bad luck. It's energy that is settling, blocked, or turning inward.
What upright and reversed mean
When you turn over a tarot card and the image is right side up, it's upright; when it's upside down, it's reversed. The same card carries a subtly different energy and emphasis in each orientation.
Three ways to understand a reversed card
First, blocked or not-yet-ripe energy: the card's positive qualities are still there, but outer circumstances or inner worries are holding them back for now. Second, imbalance or excess: gentle acceptance becomes self-sacrifice, decisive action becomes recklessness. Third, turning inward: the change isn't visible in the outside world yet; it's brewing deep inside you.
So there's no need to panic over a reversed card. Often, when intense cards like the Tower or the Ten of Swords appear reversed, it means the hardest part has already passed and a turning point is slowly emerging.
